Packages from the US to Ukraine move regularly by mail, express courier and consolidated cargo. The big news this fall is that Ukraine's parliament is working to scrap the €150 duty-free threshold, which matters if you buy things in US stores for family back home.
Shipping options
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| USPS (delivered in Ukraine by Ukrposhta) | Light parcels and documents when there's no rush |
| Express courier (DHL and others) | Urgent, door-to-door, low weight |
| Consolidated shipping by the pound | Heavy boxes of clothes, food and gifts; usually the best value |
Per-pound prices for Ukraine are in the KaspiPost calculator.
Customs: the €150 limit
As of October 2026, parcels to individuals are duty-free up to €150. Above that, you pay 10% duty and 20% VAT on the amount over the limit.
What's changing: on September 16, 2026, the Verkhovna Rada passed in first reading a bill that would remove the threshold for purchases on foreign marketplaces, so VAT would apply to any amount. Under the draft, personal gifts from relatives up to €45 stay tax-free. The law isn't final, and the dates and rates could change in second reading. We're tracking it and will update this page.
The practical takeaway: if you're sending your own things or gifts rather than a store order, say so on the customs form and list the real value.
Restricted or difficult items
- Military and tactical gear: body armor, helmets, rifle scopes, night vision, thermal imagers, drones and drone parts. Many of these need a US export license, even when donated as aid. Don't put them in a regular parcel.
- Loose lithium batteries, power banks, aerosols and perfume are restricted by carriers.
- Medicine only in small personal quantities in original packaging; check prescription drugs with us first.

A packing tip
